It’s not surprising that many Brits are now living in Greece. Moving to Greece really is an exciting prospect. Below we share some top tips for moving to Greece as a UK citizen.
Documentation
As a UK citizen, you are entitled to visit Greece for up to three months. If you are wanting to live and work in Greece, you will need a Registration Certificate.
This can be obtained at the Aliens’ Bureau, located in the larger Greek cities. This remains valid for an unlimited time.
Currency and cash
The local currency is the Euro, so it’s an easy currency to understand, especially if you travel across Europe. What you must learn to do, however, is carry cash on you: don’t rely upon credit and debit cards, as most local businesses, cafes and taxis do not accept them. The good news is that there are lots of cash machines.
The language of Greece
You’ll find that the Greeks are pretty fluent in both German and English, so communication rarely seems to be a problem. However, the locals do appreciate it when you make the effort to learn some basic words and phrases. Enrolling in a beginner’s Greek course before you relocate is a good idea!
Choose your removal company with care
