Switzerland remains A Top Choice for expats

– for a variety of reasons.
The first and foremost reason is quality-of-life. Switzerland ranks very high when it comes to a good quality of life. This is just the opposite for both the United States and United Kingdom who both rank near the bottom of the list of the best place in the world for an expat to live. Some of the other countries that were rated high were Germany, Singapore, and China. The worst rated country according to a recent survey was Egypt.

The survey was conducted by a well-known and well-respected survey company. It received information from more than 9000 expats around the entire globe. These expats shared their views and experiences about a variety of things including financial well-being, ease and safety of raising a family, and quality of life. All of these important criteria helped Switzerland to be the best place in the entire world for an expat to live.

Obviously, there are many important decisions to be made before moving to Switzerland and this is especially true if you have a family. Some of the considerations include money management, community integration, and childcare facilities. It is interesting to note that many expats have moved to Asia because of the high salaries that are being offered. People who are looking for a career tend to move to the Middle East. New Zealand continues to be near the top of the list as a great opportunity for anyone who wants a good place to raise a family and combine it with good quality of life.

Although there are many excellent locations that will provide you a good quality of life, Switzerland has emerged as the best destination to advance your career prospects while at the same time maintaining a proper life/work balance. For example, one quarter of the expats in Switzerland have an annual earning of more than US$200,000. However, more than half of them report that they have a better life/work ratio.

The Economy

People who have moved to Switzerland also express more confidence in the local economy and therefore Switzerland had the highest rating of any country in this regard. Also, Switzerland rated high in regards to pleasant surroundings and quality of air. More than 75% of those that now make Switzerland their permanent home maintain that in this regard it is a vast improvement from their own home country.

Childcare/Education

When it comes to child care and standards of education the expats give Switzerland high marks. They claim that the country is much safer than where they came from and that their children are receiving a better education. This obviously is an important criteria for many families who are fed up with traditional public schools that provide inadequate education standards and safety issues.

Therefore, for these reasons and many others there are more and more people leaving their home countries and moving to Switzerland. When making this type of a major relocation for an entire family there are obviously many concerns and questions. To answer and satisfy these concerns it is best for the entire family to share in open and honest communication and to do some serious research.
